March 2010

After a busy Summer we are looking forward to the quieter cooler months here at Everton.

The foals are weaned and all the mares safely back in foal. We have 6 mares in foals and eagerly await the crop of 2010.

Our young big black mare EV Grand Edition (Grand Kavalier x Briarfield Court) is in foal to Floriscount (Florencio x Donnerhall).

The wonderful producer Clayschool (Clay Hero x Varsity) is in foal to Desperados (De Niro x Wolkenstein II).

Beautiful black Elite Mare Candidate EV Rosaria (Rosario x Clayschool) is in foal to San Amour (Sandro Hit x Plaisir d'Amour).

Tall elegant Victori Stream (Victori xx) is a new addition this year. She has been a very successful producer for Mayfield Farm. Her first progeny by Whisper (imp) are now under saddle and proving extremely trainable. Her oldest Mayfield Why Not successfully competed at 2010 Dressage with the Stars and has won at preliminary level with his 16yo rider scoring over 70%. Tori is safely in foal to Capone (Imp).

Our BIG bay mare EV Excellence (Ex Libris) is in foal to the beautiful black Anglo Arab Illarak Alliance (Joda Alabama x Isabella). This is a stunning young stallion with enormous movement and an impressive show record.

Proven producer EV Charisma (Torlea Van Dieman x Briarfield Court) is also in foal to Capone (Imp). We are expecting a strong, big moving foal with a wonderful temperament.

The Winter months will see the consolidation of training for our two 4yos under saddle. The multi talented Everton Luisa (Lord Sinclair x Stanislavsky) will remain with FEI rider and YH trainer extraordinaire Allison O’Neil.

I will continue to over indulge myself by riding the black prince charming Everton Reconnaisance (Rosario x Briarfield Court). This horse is sensational and a genuine pleasure to own, he turns heads wherever he goes... and “No” he is not for sale!!  He needs to consolidate his basic training, then he will be aimed to the 2010 Dressage Festival.

 February  2010

On February 15th the Hanoverian Horse Association visited Everton with this years classifier Dr Ludwig Christmann. They were very impressive with our “lovely quality, elegant colt” Everton Dreamtime (De Niro x Clayschool xx). EV Dreamtime [pictured left] is the full brother to EV De Lite who was the HHSA foal of the year 2008.

Also classified as a 4yo was Everton Rosaria (Rosario x Clayschool xx) [pictured right] . This lovely black mare impressed Dr Christmann with her elegant type and flamboyant movement. She scored an average score of 8 for her conformation and movement so was named an Elite Mare Candidate. We were thrilled with this award, although not sure if we are going to be able to present her for her mare performance test next year as she will have her San Amour foal at foot!

This special Clayschool family [pictured below] has achieved many accolades, possibly more than many imported WB mares. She has had 4 foals, all are black, her only filly has been named an Elite Mare Candidate, her first colt by Whisper (Imp) won his foal class at the AWHA Gala Day and is now successfully under saddle. Her second colt  was EV De Lite (De Niro), the National Hanoverian Foal of the Year and now standing at stud in Victoria. The third colt is EV Dreamtime and was highly praised by the German assessors at weaning. Clayschool is currently in foal to Desperados, and we are very much hoping for another filly to retain.

The next day we all met again, this time at the Australian Equine Behavioural Centre of the Hanoverian Mare Performance Test. Our mare Everton Luisa successfully passed this test achieving the award of Elite mare, only 2 mares achieved this in Victoria. This test consists of conformation, movement, free jumping and rideability. EV Luisa [pictured below] scored very highly in the freejumping component receiving 8s for her technique and scope. She is freejumping 120cm with ease, somewhat to my surprise! Her sire Lord Sinclair is not known as a producer of jumping horses, but her dam Angelinksy is by Stanislavsky xx who produced numerous world cup level jumping horses.

EV Luisa demonstrated her rideability with her trainer Allison O’Neil and guest rider Andrew Maclean. Once Everton Luisa produces a live foal, she will be given the lifelong title of Elite Mare. This award is the direct equivalent to Germany’s State Premium Mare Title, so we are very proud of producing a mare of this quality.

The 2010 Hanoverian tour was another  very successful one for Everton Stud and we look forward to their visit next year.
